Chin-Yuan specializes in developing and designing cutting-edge machines for performance, such as Surfing Board with Stewart Platform, 3-Axis Orbiting Turntable, Computer Lights Electrified-Tracking System, Programmable High-Speed Curtain Roller, Programmable Curtain Release System, Wireless 4WD Omnidirectional Wagon, etc. He has established the Stage Machine Lab in TNUA (Taipei National University of the Art) since 2007. With several distinguished works and prizes, he was awarded the Distinguished Professor by TNUA in 2013. In the past 5 years, Yang has introduced Arduino in his curriculum and successfully raised the students’ passion to learn automation and control, with a lot of outstanding works created.

Chin-yuan was the director of Flying and Rigging Department in the Opening Ceremony 21st Taipei Summer Deaflympics 2009. He has also designed many customized and special machines for Taiwanese celebrities in concerts touring around China and Taiwan, such as Cheer Chen (陳綺貞), Jody Chiang (江蕙), Hebe Tien (田馥甄), René Liu (劉若英), etc. Yang has also joined many exhibitions as a technical designer in Taiwan, including National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, new media art in Taipei Fine Arts Museum, special touring exhibitions for Theo Jansen, etc.

In addition to 33 school productions in TNUA, as a technical director in professional theatre, Yang has collaborated with many well-known professional theatre companies in Taiwan, including Performance Workshop, Ping-Fong Acting Troup, National Symphony Orchestra, Mr. Wing Theatre Company, IfKids Theatre Company, Theatre Dance Company, Story Works, Godot Theatre Company, Taiwan Yale Ensemble, etc. In recent years, Eugene Yang has joined different projects in China, such as Shanghai Disney Resort Opening Show, summer castle shows, as well as WuZhen Theatre Festival as resident technical consultant. Technical director in the production “The Concealed Treasure”, Theatre Above in Shanghai working with Daniel Ostling as set design and Stan Lai as the director.
